BERKLEE PORTFOLIO!

Completed in May 2024, my contemporary writing and production graduate portfolio represents the expansiveness and overall quality of my studies at Berklee College of Music. These works best represent me as an artist, having required advanced education and constant practice in songwriting, orchestration, composition, arranging, scoring, and production to complete. As I launch a professional career in music, I look forward to developing my skillset beyond what I've learned from compiling this portfolio and continuing to write songs that you need to hear.

una notte al mare

Orchestral Piece
The first orchestral piece I've composed, "Una notte al mare", which translates to "a night at sea", is a tribute to my Italian-American ancestry. Its three-note ostinato represents the tides rolling across the ocean, from the docks of Southern Italy's serene seaports to the bustling, sprawling harbor of New York City, as the melody wanders, struggling to acculturate within an environment supposedly rife with opportunity. As someone who's lived in both the Northeast Corridor of the United States and studied abroad for eight months in Florence, Italy, I've seen both sides of a world that informed my heritage and the person I've become. In "Una notte al mare," I imagine myself in my family's shoes, traveling on my own "night at sea" towards a new phase of my life.

"Una notte al mare" was recorded by a live chamber orchestra at Futura Productions in May 2024.

me and my broken heart / lonely no more (Mashup)

Vocal Group Piece
Me and My Broken Heart / Lonely No More (Mashup)
I transferred to Berklee from Marist College, a liberal arts college perched on the shores of the Hudson River in Poughkeepsie, New York. My experience participating in the ensembles within Marist’s Music Program, especially Time Check, one of Marist's a cappella ensembles, ultimately inspired me to pursue a professional music career. Following my tenure in Time Check and during my second semester at Berklee, I arranged this mashup of “Me and My Broken Heart” and “Lonely No More” for the group to perform in spring 2022. Later that year, Time Check professionally recorded this mashup at Black Sheep Recording Studios in Gardiner, NY to be featured on their EP, Geometrically Challenged.

song that you might hear in a video game

Contemporary Electronic Track
Song That You Might Hear in a Video Game
My lifelong love for video games has been largely defined by their soundtracks. I remember playing video game songs by ear, sight-reading fan transcriptions online, and then composing my medleys of tracks whose melodies and harmonies were compatible. At one point, I dreamed of being able to code my own game and compose its soundtrack, much like Toby Fox, the mastermind behind Undertale. I may not be studying under Berklee’s Game Scoring concentration, but I hope that through my professional experiences, scoring video game soundtracks can remain a possibility in my future.

ADVERTISING DEMOS

Advertising Music
Scoring for Advertising was among the final classes I took at Berklee, during my penultimate semester in fall 2023. I was at a point when I realized I wanted to pursue a career in writing music for media, but I wasn’t sure what I wanted to concentrate on, let alone how to use any of the skills I'd learned thus far at Berklee to accomplish them. This class, taught by Professor Kurt Biederwolf, left no stone unturned - I learned how to work with frame rates, tempo mapping, symphonic libraries, and the ins and outs of the advertising business. It helped me realize that scoring for advertising could be a potential career path as I enter the professional world.

Two Friends

Artistic/Personal Project
Two Friends
I've moved several times so far in my life, to the point that when people ask me where I'm from, I'm unsure how to answer the question. From being born in New York City to living up and down the East Coast, I feel that my formative years were spent in Central Jersey, where I became friends with someone who lived five minutes from me in this rural pocket of the Garden State. We used to bike to each other's houses and play video games together, building the kind of friendship where we could eat dinner with each other's families and be regarded as something very close to family. As we moved away from that neighborhood, we couldn't bike to hang out anymore, but we're still "two friends," as this song suggests.

For all the different places I've moved to, I am so incredibly grateful to the people I've met who have supported me, whether my family by blood or my chosen family through friends. I feel this song speaks to how important it is to have people in your life whom you can change with, regardless of how much change you experience in your journey.
